About the role
AWS Transform is building the next generation of Agentic AI services that autonomouslymigrate the world's largest enterprises to the cloud. With approximately 7/8 of all enterpriseworkloads still running AWS Transform is building the next generation of Agentic AI services that autonomouslymigrate the world's largest enterprises to the cloud. With approximately 7/8 of all enterpriseworkloads still running on-premises, we are at the center of one of AWS's most significantgrowth opportunities. We are looking for a Principal Engineer who lives at the frontier of AI,someone who can envision and build autonomous agents that reason about complexinfrastructure, make intelligent decisions, and execute large-scale migrations with minimalhuman intervention. This is a rare opportunity to define the architecture of an AI-nativeplatform from the ground up.Key job responsibilitiesDefine and architect the technical vision for an Agentic AI migration platform, where autonomous agents discover, plan, and execute full data center exitsDesign and build multi-agent systems that leverage foundation models, chain-of-thought reasoning, and tool-use patterns to solve complex migration challengesArchitect AI-powered network transformation capabilities, using generative models to analyze, replicate, and optimize enterprise network topologiesProvide technical leadership across 4 scrum teams, instilling an AI-first engineering culture and ensuring architectural coherence across agent frameworksDrive innovation in agentic orchestration to continuously improve autonomy and accuracy for migration of servers, storage, networks, and applicationsMentor senior engineers on AI-native development practices and cultivate a culture of rapid experimentation, spec-driven engineering, and high velocity releases on Brownfield projects.A day in the lifeYou'll start your day evaluating the latest agent performance metrics, reviewing how your autonomous migration agents handled workloads, and identifying where reasoning chains can be improved. Mid-morning, you'll dive into architecture reviews for new agent capabilities, perhaps a planner agent that uses LLMs to decompose complex migration dependencies, or a network transformation agent that analyzes discovered topologies and generates infrastructure-as-code. Afternoons bring cross-team collaboration with US-based Principal Engineers, aligning on foundation model selection, prompt engineering strategies, and the overall agentic platform roadmap. You'll close the day mentoring engineers on AI system design, reviewing experiment results, and sketching out novel approaches to unsolved migration problems. 10+ years of professional software development experience, with 3+ years focused on AI/ML systems5+ years of designing and building large-scale distributed systemsDeep hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), foundation models, or agentic AI frameworksExperience designing multi-agent systems, autonomous orchestration engines, or AI-driven workflow platformsProficiency in Python, with experience in ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar) Experience with prompt engineering and chain-of-thought reasoning patternsTrack record of shipping AI-powered products or services at production scaleExperience leading technical strategy and architecture across multiple engineering teamsFamiliarity with reinforcement learning, planning algorithms, or decision-making systemsExperience with AWS services, cloud-native architectures, and infrastructure-as-codeStrong demonstrated thought leadership in AI/ML Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
